Our History
Youth sports in Cedar Bay since 1987
Thirty-nine seasons, thousands of kids, and one rule that has never changed: everyone plays.
It started with one team
In the fall of 1987, eleven parents met in the back room of the old Harbor Street diner. Their kids wanted to play football and the nearest team was forty minutes away. They passed a coffee can around the table and raised $212.
That first team had 19 players, hand-me-down helmets and a field borrowed from the county fairgrounds. They lost every game. Every one of them came back the next year.

Our story
- 1987

The Comets are born
Nineteen players, one team, and a coffee can full of dollar bills. The name comes from the comet a founding dad saw from his fishing boat the year before.
- 1991
Our first win
It took four seasons. The final score was 6 to 0, in the rain, against Pine Harbor. The game ball still sits in the Clubhouse.
- 1998
Comet Field opens
Families cleared the land on weekends. A local farmer loaned the tractor. The scoreboard went up the night before the first game.
- 2004
Cheer joins the club
Twelve girls and a borrowed mat. Two years later they brought home the club's first regional trophy.
- 2012
The Clubhouse
Built with donated lumber and a lot of Saturday mornings. It holds our trophies, our meetings and more than a few birthday parties.
- 2019
Basketball and volleyball
The club grows past football. The Community Gym becomes our second home.
- Today
Six teams and growing
More than 90 players this fall, from 3rd grade flag to 8th grade volleyball. Still run by parents. Still passing the coffee can.
Our home field
Comet Field sits at 100 Comet Way, just past the water tower. Home families park in Lot A by the main gate. The snack stand opens 45 minutes before every home game.
The field is named for nobody. The founders wanted it to belong to every kid who plays on it.
